About the Summit
In this highly competitive marketplace environment, the GCC chemical and petrochemical industry will require a second leg to stand on to gain momentum. Innovating to bring new technologies to life and adopting existing state-of-the art tools can thus play a key role in shaping the industry’s future from purely industrial focused into high-tech, innovation and solutions driven.
The 4th GPCA Research and Innovation (R&I) Summit is designed to provide valuable insight into the current industry plans to harness the power of innovation to help drive sustainable and profitable growth for the sector and the region.
Divided into three days, the program will scrutinize the interface between processes and technology and how to weave the different vectors of R&D to reach important business goals. Delegates will also be presented with case studies on successful technology management and related business results, and learn from leading industry experts about how to turn technology into profitable business solutions.
Some of the sessions will focus on:
- Bringing technology successfully to market
- Seamless integration of technology and business management
- Role of technology venturing and knowledge transfer in driving innovation
- Managing R&D, innovation and technology
- Successful project management and completion
“The Stone Age came to an end, not because we had a lack of stones, and the oil age will come to an end not because we have a lack of oil."
Sheikh Ahmed Zaki Yamani, Former Saudi Oil Minister
The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) represents the downstream hydrocarbon industry in the Arabian Gulf. Established in 2006, the association voices the common interests of more than 240 member companies from the chemical and allied industries, accounting for over 95% of chemical output in the Gulf region. The industry makes up the second largest manufacturing sector in the region, producing up to US$102billion worth of products a year.
The association supports the region’s petrochemical and chemical industry through advocacy, networking and thought leadership initiatives that help member companies to connect, to share and advance knowledge, to contribute to international dialogue, and to become prime influencers in shaping the future of the global petrochemicals industry.
Committed to providing a regional platform for stakeholders from across the industry, the GPCA manages six working committees – Plastics, Supply Chain, Fertilizers, International Trade, Research and Innovation, and Responsible Care – and organizes six world-class events each year. The association also publishes an annual report, regular newsletters and reports.
