Mark L. Hlavinka serves as Licensing Manager developing and overseeing Chevron Phillips Chemical’s proprietary catalyst portfolio including polyethylene, aromatics and alpha-olefins production. He is also responsible for the development and negotiation of licenses, options and other commercial agreements in alignment with the Specialty Chemical, Aromatics and Styrenics businesses and plants.
He previously served as Team Leader, Exploratory Catalysts leading team of Ph. D chemists and technicians within Chevron Phillips R&T developing new catalysts for polyethylene, polypropylene, normal alpha olefins, poly alpha olefins (PAOs), and other petrochemical derivatives of olefins. Hlavinka started his career at Chevron Phillips Chemical in 2008 as Research Chemist in the Polyolefin Catalyst and Product Development Group. Prior to joining CPChem, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Harvard University under the auspices of Professor R. H. Holm
Hlavinka received his Doctorate in chemistry from University of Colorado, Boulder in 2006. He holds 30 issued United States patents and has authored 10 technical papers in peer-reviewed journals.
